The W&UM is set in the Marquette Range of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula in the fall of 1982. The railroad is protofreelanced based on the Duluth, South Shore & Atlantic as if the Canadian Pacific hadn’t acquired majority ownership during the great depression.
The railroad has a good overhead traffic base but ore operations are featured with several mines and a 9-foot ore dock. Ore is also interchanged with the Chicago & Northwestern and Lake Superior & Ishpeming.
Version 1 served me well for 25 years hosting 74 operating sessions before a final run in July 2024. The new railroad, Version 2, is an improved, double deck layout featuring a longer main line and several new positions for operators and debuted at Riverrail 2026.
