GN Mesabi Division Dispatcher Practice Session

Comments Off on GN Mesabi Division Dispatcher Practice Session
When: Tuesday, March 5th, 2024 from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm

I have been thinking lately that dispatching my layout is unique when compared to the other Riverrail CTC railroads. Al and Ron have physical panels, actual levers and buttons. Alan Schroeder’s glass panel is J/MRI or ‘CATS’ based. My glass panel is part of the software based on C/MRI and programmed by Bill Carr. It does have some things that take a bit of getting used to.

Recent discussions with a few Riverrail members about doing this was met with enthusiasm and comments that it was a great idea. So here it is, a chance to come practice with the CTC panel and not be under the pressure of an actual session while you learn.  Space is limited in the dispatchers office, so I have to limit attendance to 4 people. I will be holding more than 1 of these sessions.

If you sign up  to attend you are not obligated to jump into the hot seat at the next session. This is just an opportunity to come learn the unique things about this panel. If you sign up for this initial session please do not sign up for future ones. Also please do not sign up if you have no interest in dispatching in the future. Please do not call for a ‘private session’, I have other projects on the layout and need to focus on those outside of the practice sessions.

About Ed Klein

I've been fascinated by trains since grade school. My attraction to ore trains stems from the walk home from school and seeing a GN train with CB&Q power go through La Crosse.
