Mar 24th, 2006 Shane and Laura, the hired help for the session, get ready to start their work. It seems the Milwaukee Road has traveled through a Time Warp to receive these beautiful new SD40-2's a few years ahead of schedule! The North Flats job has arrived and is getting ready to do it's local work. Something is happening down at Barlett that has the attention of all the crews. The proprietor of the local hobby shop, Bill Kleinschmidt, made an appearance at the railroad today. What's with this Norfolk Southern power? Well, borrowed power helped get the railroad moving! Rick Rodrick inspects the throttle. Engineer Lynn McMahon reviews the paperwork for the South Flats job, which was very light duty today. Is this our honored guest scowling at the camera? Or is he focusing on something interesting? Here we see Groucho Marks, er, Terry Schardt filling out some much needed paperwork. Rick Rodrick seems to be hard at work, or hard at thought, while he works the Bartlett job today. Jule Lipps reaches to spot a car at the Caterpillar plant in North Flats. Neil with a cold one inspecting the future site of the brewery. Neil seems to be in a better mood in this photo where he is sharing something amusing with Rick Rodrick. Lynn tries to figure out how the railroad is going to move this 70 foot tall can of Coca Cola. Here we see a Milwaukee Road Alco diesel inside the chicken coop. Doc Lipps is checking things twice to make sure he and Jule complete the work properly. General Yard Master and CEO Dennis Weber decides it's time for a break. Terry Schardt (OK, enough with the Groucho remarks) and Al Lesky work train 220 in Deer Grove. Here's a nice view of Gateway Yard. I didn't realize the railroads were using remote control back in the 60's! There is always a lot of activity in Gateway Yard. You can see it's been a long day when the hired help starts making funny faces at passing trains. It's a good thing CEO Weber planned for lots of operators with the wide aisles that can accommodate more than 8 operators at once. 1 2 ► Share this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)
