About Dave Waraxa

Freelancing the BNSF out west in the Kootenai River sub. First train, a Lionell, when I was too young to remember. I remember the orange handle made the whistle blow. Got my first H.O. train set when I turned 8. I remember riding to North Main Hobbies in Racine that day, 52 years ago. If I can remember all that how come I cannot remember what did I did yesterday?

Fine tuning the layout before RiverRail 2012.  Going to try something different for the meal this time around.  Cooking burgers on the grill and keeping them warm and steamed before lunch.  I’ll start cooking the burgers 30 minutes before the mid session break.  Then it will be a build your own burger bar, with something for desert.

Please note the start time is at 3.  Going to try this for those who have to drive a bit to get here so they are home 1 hour earlier than usual from my sessions.  Meal to be decided later.  Park in the alley unless there is a lot of snow.  If there is a lot of wonderful white snow, park in front.

BNSF Kootenai River sub New Years run

When: January 2nd, 2012 from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm

For this event, I ask everybody to bring a small dish to pass. I’ll supply the liquids.  I’ll let everybody know where to park due to snow or lack of it.  This has been a very well received session in years past with Ramsey being the most popular passing siding on the system. (food table)  Let’s start the new year right by running some trains!!  With Sunday being New Years day, most of us will have Monday off.

I’m hosting my last ops session on this day.  My last session while I’m still in my 50′s that is.  I’ll be turning 60 on the 28th.  I have never had a summer session so this is a rare summer ops session for me.  Hot ham on buns with beans and chips.  I’m sure there will be cake for desert.  Bar car is always open.  Back door closes at 4.
